Message from Your Chairperson Lisa Krueger December 20, 2023
December 27, 2023
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Everyone! The excitement of the season is upon us. The buzz of the holidays, the family get-togethers, and the celebrating. My husband and I find ourselves grateful for our families and friends that make life beautiful.
At our November and December Board meetings, we had robust conversations regarding what to do for our 2024 rates. Our board is made up of 7 members. After much discussion, the board voted to pass a $.23 increase for water usage per 1000 gallons. Effective on January 2024 billing. If your family uses 2,000 gallons of water a month, this equals to an increase of $.46 per month, or $5.52 per year increase.
We also reviewed our Capital Improvement Plan for the next 10 years. Side Note: Last year my husband and I were hosting a big get together at our home. The morning everyone was arriving, one friend staying with us said; Your fridge has water in the Ice?? Our fridge had stopped. No warning and no outward signs that it was wearing out. This happens to everyone, and it also occurs to businesses. Capital Improvements are a necessary part of running a business and planning for today, but also planning for the future - at the same time. We can’t control or predict the life span of a product. It could be catastrophic if you aren’t planning for both today and tomorrow.
We, the Board of North Prairie Regional Water District, and the employees continue to grow and learn and work hard to keep delivering clean, potable water to you, the user. We are looking forward to 2024, as we have much to be thankful for. The last 10 years have brought much growth, but not without the messy growing pains. Those of you who have successful business operations have experienced this as well.
North Prairie Regional Water District Offices will be closed Monday, December 25, 2023, and January 1, 2024. Enjoy your families and friends this holiday season.
